This hotel overlooking the Moray Firth is in a beautiful setting and has beautiful gardens that lead to the coast. You can enjoy gourmet dining in the AA Rosette-awarded Hickory Restaurant, enjoy a casual meal in the modern Links Brasserie with panoramic views over the Moray Firth, or enjoy afternoon tea in the comfortable lounge. The Golf View Hotel & Spa offers spacious rooms, elegant design and modern conveniences. Many of the bedrooms offer stunning sea views. Some bedrooms offer window seating with panoramic views over the Moray Firth and the mystical Black Isle beyond. Not sure if we'll have time for it. But the hotel features a Spa complete with jacuzzi (indoor and outdoor) swimming pool and massage options.
There was time when the spectacular links of the Nairn Golf Club kept its light rather hidden beneath the bushel but the Amateur Championship of 1994 and the famous GB & I victory over the United States in the Walker Cup in 1999 changed all that. This is one of the classic links courses of Scotland, an amalgamation of the work of Andrew Simpson, Old Tom Morris, Ben Sayers and inevitably James Braid. Today's layout, with the exception of a little discreet refinement by C.K. Cotton, is largely the work of Braid and spectacular it is in every regard. Great stands of gorse, wonderful crisp fairway turf and greens that are widely hailed as the best in Scottish golf are the legacy that Braid left in this beautiful corner of Morayshire.
Located near Inverness, in the heart of the breathtaking Scottish Highlands, Cabot Highlands offers a unique combination of golf, nature, and culture. The 420-hectare resort is situated along the rugged coastline of the Moray Firth and is home to the renowned 18-hole Castle Stuart course, ranked among the top 100 golf courses in the world. Additionally, the resort features Old Petty, a second 18-hole championship course designed by the globally acclaimed golf course architect Tom Doak.
Beyond golf, guests can enjoy the impressive natural surroundings and a wide range of outdoor activities, including hiking, cycling, fishing, falconry, and horseback riding. The Old Course is considered one of Scotland's finest links courses. It is a classic links layout, designed by Old Tom Morris, featuring deep sod-walled bunkers, undulating fairways lined with gorse, and fast, impeccably maintained greens. The course presents an excellent challenge for golfers, featuring seven par-4 holes measuring over 400 yards.
Henry Cotton's preference for precision golf is clearly evident in the shorter but slightly narrower New Course. The greens there are smaller than those of the Old Course, but of at least the same quality and equally challenging and rewarding to play. Moray Golf Club is truly one of Scotland's hidden gems: a fitting tribute to the craftsmanship of Old Tom Morris and Henry Cotton, and an absolute must for golfers visiting the region.
Old Petty, an 18-hole course designed by the renowned golf course architect Tom Doak, is a tribute to the rich history of Inverness. The course meanders along a tidal estuary, bringing golfers closer to the 400-year-old castle while playing past the historic Old Petty Church dating from 1839. From the first tee, a striking design feature is immediately apparent: the 1st and 18th holes cross each other. This is a rarity in modern golf course architecture and provides a unique combination of playability and strategic challenge.
The official opening of Old Petty took place on May 15, 2026, and the course is now available for bookings. As an authentic links course, Old Petty represents an exciting new chapter alongside its world-famous neighbor, Castle Stuart. Together, they reinforce the reputation of the Scottish Highlands as one of the most extraordinary golf destinations in the world.
